Have you ever wondered what the difference between 14K or 18K gold is? While both are considered solid gold, their composition changes everything from color richness to durability. We’ll break down the key differences so you can make a confident choice when investing in Poppy Finch jewelry.
Over 90% of the gold we use is recycled, sourced from certified responsible refiners. We work exclusively with suppliers who are audited annually by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) or SCS Global Services, ensuring our precious metals meet the highest standards for ethical sourcing and sustainable jewelry practices. 14K Solid Gold
14K solid gold is made of 58% pure gold, mixed with other alloy metals. That makes it stronger and more durable, which is why it’s great for everyday jewelry — rings you never take off, chains you sleep in, pieces that need to keep up with real life.
14K = tougher, lighter color, better for everyday use.

18K Solid Gold
18K solid gold is made of 75% pure gold, so it has a richer, warmer color and feels more luxurious. It's perfect for statement pieces. Because it’s softer, it can scratch more easily, so be sure to take extra care when navigating your day to day.
18K = richer color and softer

Did You Know?
“Solid gold” means the piece is gold all the way through — not plated, not filled, and not coated. It doesn’t mean the gold is 100% pure.
Pure gold (24K) is extremely soft, so it’s mixed with other metals to make it strong enough to wear. Even with those added metals, 14K and 18K pieces are still considered solid gold because the gold runs through the entire piece — there’s no layer that can wear off.
